No stay away it's crap, the midges flock to you the second you stop, it always rains, the roads are pothole hell and the west coast is just building site :P
Ok I have been wet once or twice but the midges aren't all year round and if you pick your time right you'll not have much bother from them.

We'll be going again this year, might even try Wales again but but it's nothing like as good as Scotland.

Do I take it that everywhere will be booked up by packs of German BMW riders?
No, it will be booked up by Britsh BMW riders....

In truth that's how I plan my trips, get the weather forecasts and when its right then go. I work for myself and have good flexibility. However I much prefer camping, wild if I can and even better wake up camped on a beach on a sunny morning and don't do hotels. I see enough of them for work.

I did 1400 miles in 4 1/2 days last year on a brief visit to Scotland, my first and only ever time (other than test ride) on a BMW and it wasn't even a GS, not even room for ali boxes on the poor little thing ; 0

This year it will be the Enfield and a CBF125, bit slower but we have a few more days.

Living in the central belt sucks, if we could have afforded to stay in Edinburgh or East Lothian, or if South Lanarkshire or Perthshire had been practical, we'd probably still be there, but it is nice to go back to the rest of Scotland as a visitor.
