Fancy doing the Portugal tour early June, dump bike at my brother's near Alicante, fly home and then fly / drive back out early September to come on upto you.

Thinking about Croatia or Romainia, late June early July with my mate who won't camp. Do any of you guys know what the score is re safe, comfortable, affordable hotels are in those countries as we've not been to either? We'll both be on Explorers, so sticking to the Tarmac.

Just stick the booking.com app in your phone and start looking for somewhere at about 4pm each day. I stopped in good quality hotels every night I was in that area for about £30/night and most days booze and food over the whole day was about another £20 so it's not expensive.

Petrol is also cheaper and though readily available in just about every decent sized town petrol stations between towns are a rarity once you're off motorways. That can easily mean gaps of up to 100 miles between opportunities to fill up if you avoid large towns so I never let my bike get below at least 75 miles range remaining unless I was heading for a town.

Quite fancy Norway, pretty much the same route as S Harper & father did earlier but maybe this will have to wait till 2018 and take 3weeks coming back on the East side of the Baltic Sea.

Due to losing about 13% of my monthly income to HMRC for my lease car our household is undergoing a bit of belt tightening at the moment

So far:

Will organise the 3rd Countrymen Rally with Danny at Haggsbank in April or May

Then defo going to MAG Yorkshire Pudding rally in East Yorks

August will be 5 days bushcrafting with my 2 girls at an organised event in Wiltshire

Good thread Russ. Hadn't given it much thought yet, but having had a forced time away from the bikes this year you got me cogitating now !
Question : Do you remember the name of the place where I met you one time at that free overnight roadside stop, a little way north of Phil's in France ? That was a useful sleepover area running south. (thumbs)

MOULISMES on n147 20mins east of poitiers mate.....also very nice camo site at Confolens....that was a good hols mate....

Ta ! Found it on street view, just as I remember it (thumbs) (Not because it's free but because you can turn up late night and just bed down. Unlike most French campsites that want you booked in and in bed lights out by seven ! :laugh: :laugh: )

If anyone knows of other places like this (in any country) shout it out (thumbs) ,it's nice to keep riding into the evening sometimes.

I can recommend Camping du Pasquier at Dole in the Jura in France (http://www.camping-le-pasquier.com) as a good stop off on way to/from Alps and Calais. Not free but reasonable and open until 10.00pm at night. (Give them a chance and don't leave it to last minute. Food last orders ~ 9.30pm in July and August only.
Oh and I'm there most of time from July to end Sept and always have room in awning for couple of bikers if it's chucking it down, possibly in my VW Camper (the annex). Gear could be dried overnight. Just pay camp fees and ask for me, Norman.

I've just decided to spend a week bimbling up the Pyrenees on the Beta Alp - ultralite camping, lots of trails, etc. probably in mid May or early July...

Alittle more farkling with the luggage and pressgang my Krieger back pack into service once again and I'm away ...
