I have my obligatory 2 bike trips to sort out for the year.
I like to go somewhere different so I'm hoping to get to the Pyrenees for one of them and the other...don't know. Maybe something bizarre like visiting all the cities in the UK in a week or a trip around the south west coast. Might just go to Germany and set the tent up for a week and tour around there.
Where, what we doing next year...biking thread lol..

I'd say it'll be a relatively quite bike year for me.
I've got a self-build project that's just starting.
I hope to get to Spain for a HISS event. Possibly a Euro road trip out to Bulgaria.
I'd like to do some all terrain rally's or similar events, some weekends with the ABC crew, visit Phil in France, take an off road Balkan trip.....but I can't have it all!

+ 1 (thumbs) Paying off the PCP balloon payment on my GS is also a reason for a cheaper holiday next year after blowing another £5k on a US trip again this year :huh:johnnyboxer wrote:Staycation - buying British and bike trips at home supporting the British Tourist industry
With the drop in the pound and the cost of a Euro trip going up by 10-20% post Brexit Vote I will be staying home next year
Never been to the Western Isles or Shetlands so may do that instead
I think we'll have a trip up to the West Coast and possibly the Outer Hebrides at the end of April (I've never been out to Lewis and Harris etc. despite touring in Scotland most years), followed by weeks walking/cycling in the Lakes in June/July.
If I can get tickets for the Goodwood Revival in September, I think we'll have an exploration of the south west on the bike as I haven't been down that way since I was a kid, except for a quick trip over Exmoor and Dartmoor on the way to the Plymouth ferry terminal

I have all of Paul's notes and maps from our trip if you need copies of them.peterpan241 wrote:Quite fancy Norway, pretty much the same route as S Harper & father did earlier but maybe this will have to wait till 2018 and take 3weeks coming back on the East side of the Baltic
I'm sort of glad we did it the way we did, opposite to the direction we'd planned, up to Helsinki, up to the Russian border (and the Arctic Ocean), across to Nordkapp and then coming down Norway, it worked out really well, but we were really lucky with the weather; there's a couple of things I'd do differently, but overall it was a tremendous trip.

Hopefully the Elephant in Feb as I can't normally get the time off but things have fallen right next year. I would love to go and see my mate in the middle of Portugal at Easter but that depends on the Euro, ferry prices etc. Hopefully the Taffy Dakar again cos it's such a good crack. We now have booked a large family gathering in Wales rather than the Ardennes cos of the uncertainty with the Euro. When you are booking a large house for a lot of family on different levels of income it is difficult to risk it. Still my eldest and I will be going on the bikes so should be able to get some good lanes in.
As many UK sidecar rallies as I can fit in.
Cheers Jak

Thinking about Croatia or Romainia, late June early July with my mate who won't camp. Do any of you guys know what the score is re safe, comfortable, affordable hotels are in those countries as we've not been to either? We'll both be on Explorers, so sticking to the Tarmac.
