CCM GP450 REAR SHOCK

Post by Bodysnatcher »

Hi everyone, is there any ccm owners out there that can tell me how to adjust the SAG on the gp450 with the shock in situ. I have tried and tried and all I'm doing is messing the alloy ring up. The only way I can see,is to remove the sub-frame,remove the rear tank and then remove the whole shock to adjust it. Then put it all back together to find it needs a bit more. (What a faff on)

At the moment I feel like using my old JCB to remove the shock

P.S.it is the manual rear shock (obviously)or it would be simple
Thanks Alastair

I now have the remote preload - but before it moved ok as per the manual. Just checking but you are undoing the small allen key locking bolt? Also lift the bike on a stand and let the rear wheel hang makes it easier as well.

i ended up making a c spanner out of flat plate and welding a 6ml? lug on to it

you will get around 3ml raise per turn ..so it a good idea to measure up ..i set static sag with me panniers and tools and tubes in i carry a default 10kgm of shite everywhere i go so it was never badly effected by a full load infact i think the rear suspension of the ccm is the best out there just seems to glide over stuff even when fully loaded ..i always start with it on the 10kgms that is ..i use the stronger spring which is a option on order for the luggage and me ...im not little ..if you get 15/20ml stattic you wont be far out with the rider sag ..
whats the wether forcast ..wheres me map

Hi thanks for the reply, the grub screw was missing when I finally got the ring round enough to see in the hole. The bike is on a stand with the wheels in the air but the ring is fairly solid. I am trying to get the last inch of adjustment on the threads. There is not enough room to use the tool supplied. I've had to use the ball Allen key end in the tool at an angle and smack it with a hammer to get the ring to move
Thanks

Add a spray of WD40 to the rings, as they are quite fine and collect crud. (thumbs)

Hi,I'm currently on 31mm static SAG and 90mm with just rider. There seems to be about 25mm of threads left on the shock. I'm hoping this will be enough

Can the remote preload bits be fitted to my standard shock or would I have to buy a whole new shock

I believe it is a bolt on upgrade - but ring to check.

its in the zone crankit up 5 turns 15ml raise you wont be kicked out of your seat for trail riding even with the bags on should be fine

if your a super heavy loader campy type you may need to rethink ...the o/e shock can be upgraded with the preload coller i think
