Does it specifically say 'does not apply to motorcycles' in the EU directive ?
I'm sure i've read this directive in the past and it just states 'vehicles', cant remember anything about specifically stating what types of vehicles. Although i cannot find the link now to check it.

For the last 12 years i have been buying new Suzuki and Yamaha bikes. In the T&C's of both these manufacturers it states their bikes can be serviced anywhere and not just main dealers, as long as the service schedule is adhered to. I have used independants for servicing and never had a problem getting warranty work done.

I've had a quick search on the net but can't find a definitive answer by BMW motorrad.
I reckon I'd go to a BMW dealer and ask. I think I know what they will say, however I'd then ask them to show me exactly where it is stated.

Or perhaps ask trading standards?

Cardiff Motaradd used to be authorised to BMW warranty work. But Mike is now at her majesty's pleasure so that will be void. His dad Phil now does servicing on bikes. Nice fella. I know it won't answer you question, but may go a way for you to choose your agent.

Found it after googling and the answer was from, I think, Dalton solicitors? could take it to court but good luck with suing Triumph, for instance, think their legal backup is quite good :whistle:

Okay so the chap i was planning to use is indisposed and his dad is doing servicing but may not be qualified. Its probably work the extra 70 quid to use riders

Looking at the relevant legislation and the definition of what is covered by it clearly states that a motor vehicle is "a self propelled vehicle for use on public roads which has 3 or more wheels", so if it came to the crunch that would seem to exclude motorcycles.
