Jonny Bealby's 'Running with the Moon' is my favourite book; he takes his Tenere to the Tenere desert.

He went to mourn/understand the sudden death of his beloved girlfriend - so not just about the biking

Thought provoking about love and relationships

Touching the world is a fantastic book

that's the only book on the subject that I will read again. I personally find most others too self indulgent by definition.

I agree with all so far. I didn't warm to Geoff Hill and Jonny Bealby's style but they are worth a go.
I'd add Dylan Samarawickrama, Geoff G Thomas, Jeremy Kroeker and Ousin Hughes to the mix.
If you want older stuff then One Man Caravan by Robert Edison Fulton is certainly in my top ten.

As much as I enjoyed all of Sam Manicom's and Ted Simon books, Robbie Marshall, Triumph around the world has to be my favourite. Taking a Triumph Trophy off road in Columbia being shot at from the roadside and his style of writing and humour kept me well entertained. The John Bealby Running with the Moon was good too. Also any of the "Far and ... " books by Neil Peart has my vote (new one out this Oct) (thumbs) . Melissa Holbrook Pearsons The Perfect Vehicle is a great read, not strictly Adventure though.
