Strange question  , but the right place to ask I guess. Just pretend like you're a doctor and you hear these things all the time.
I did 400 miles back from France yesterday in 28/30 degrees heat. Today I'm sitting down very gently!
My kevlar jeans and the plastic seat made me sweat, my cotton boxer shorts rode up my thighs, creased up and bunched up. I flattened them out with each loo stop, but they soon creased up again, meaning the material was digging in and getting quite painful to sit on.
Today the back of my thighs are wielded and swollen as if I were back at school and the headmaster just gave me the cane! It's a good job I'm home and don't have to do the same again today.
Can anyone recommend some underwear that will solve this problem? The material needs to stay put and stay flat with no creases, even when wet. I'm thinking along the lines of lycra cycle shorts but without the padding.

Under Armour pants are fantastic. Very comfy, don't ride up, soft, moisture wicking and for pants, are expensive but will save your arse and plumbs!
Plus, when away, they wash and dry very quickly.

Re: Long distance underwear
I usually wear longish tight fitting cotton boxers that keep everything in place and an all in one cotton 'romper suit' - even in 50 degree heat of the desert I found this worked and I didn't suffer the issues you've described.
The added bonus if you get Merino clothing is that it can be worn quite a while before getting smelly - ideal if you're doing a long trip which involves getting hot and sweaty and not being able to wash undergarments every day.

Merino wool here too but am about to try some cycling shorts for a few days off road to see if I can negate monkey butt.

I gave up on boxers and now wear cotton briefs as they don't ride so much, I also went up a size and that helped. Merino wool long johns are awesome but I couldn't bring myself to wear them in hot weather.
And now, Harry, let us step out into the night and pursue that flighty temptress, adventure.

I bought a pair of baselayer leggins to ride to Scotland, and they're excellent! I wear them under my leather, and textile trousers. Keep you warm, and cool. And they provide a comfort layer between your skin, and the item your wearing. Bought on eBay,Outlast make,elastane/polyamide material.

I wear a thong. I think it's supposed to ride up
don't get creases on my thighs though.
