I loved the idea of the DR350 returning in the form of the Beta Alp 4.0 but unfortunately it gained a lot of weight and some cheap components on the chassis and suspension. Suzuki DR350 and the grey import DR250 s were really great bikes. B)

Just to mess with your brain still further I have done a 185 mile day on the 200 and we do three days solid in France on the 250s. As purely a lane bike I would go four stroke though B)
The secret of a long life is knowing when its time to go.

There is no one bike that does it all. For me if I could only have 3 bikes it would be a completely different selection from my ideal 5 bike garage!
I have a Sherco 4.5i which I think is at least as good as a KTM 400exc.

There,s an awful lot of bollocks on here about 2 strokes. Are KTM 2t,s really that bad? I can vouch for Beta though, smooth power right from off-idle, unstallable low-down torque and economy which will get me 100 miles to a tank. Way more comfy than my drz and just so easy to ride on road and trail. Wait till FI 2 strokes are released and you,ll all be trading in your 4t tractors
2016 Beta 300rr- In the 2 stroke come-back club!

+1 for the Beta. I've got a 300 XTrainer. Not as good as a four stroke on the road but not too bad, but get it off the tarmac and it's fantastic. Used it for a week trail riding round the Alps doing 100 miles + a day and thought it was brilliant. Oil injection so no messing about mixing fuel and reliable electric start so no trying to kick it up on off camber slopes.chrisinflight wrote:There,s an awful lot of bollocks on here about 2 strokes. Well the opening post issue of 2 strokes has been dismissed. Mike54 seems to know his sh*t and theres a bang tidy 2012 350exc up for just over 3k so i'm hovering around the 400 or 350 at present for a final conclusion.....

DON'T buy an 08-11 400 or 450, they have the split / dual sump. The 350 still holds its value, the engine is strong. For what you want it'd be ideal - try one
