All I know is I bought my KTM SMT brand new 5 years ago for 8.5K if i wanted to by an equivalent bike today say a multistrada or the sd gt or a 1190 adv i would have to part with 16K, have my wages doubled in 5 years? Certainly not! so in my eyes the big adventure bikes are too costly!

The 990 smt whilst a great bike is not comparable to a multistrada, a 1290SDR or an 1190 adv. It's comparable to the new versys, mt09 etc, all of which are thereabouts the price you paid for your smt taking into account inflation

I've just come back from doing the Route De Grande Alps and Mt Jafferau.
The only bikes to complete everything were a 30 year old XL600. A 2007 XR650L and a WR250!

When touring Europe a few years ago on our V-Strom we seen MANY big scooters also on holiday/touring, it doesn't always have to be an adventure bike.

I'm pretty sure they were having the same enjoyment as us!

You don't need to spend 15k for an upright riding position and decent luggage.

Triumph and KTM both have 1050cc bikes, Kawasaki Versys 1000, Suzuki V-Strom 1000, etc, etc. These all so 95% of what your 15k panzers do.

Yeh but they are shit compared with the Panzer.

Never seen one with a knackered shaft drive.

When you say a WR250...do you mean the original 2 stroke enduro or the WR250R 4 stroke trail or the WR250F 4 stroke enduro? :huh:
