My mates 1190S is currently stuck at a KTM dealer in Nancy, France because the bike didn't know what gear it was in and effectivley shut itself down. The dealer has no clue what it is so its being repatriated next week. He was given a hire car (a panda  )

I want to go to Iran and that will be on a bike without all these ECUs etc. I embrace the tech of course, but when it goes wrong you are pretty much stranded unless there is a competent dealer nearby
I would love to go to Iran, should be a very interesting country to travel around (thumbs)

cheers Spud ;)

Yeh it`s cheaper, but it`s no GSA though is it ? Just another bland faired sports tourer. Boring and plain.

You need a carnay and it costs half the estimated value of your bike, you can then claim half of it back once out of Iran as long as you have all relevant stamps on your paper work when you leave. might be a bit dodgy going there at the minute if your American or British! You'll also need a visa.

Thanks East, I'm aware of the entry requirements, and I don't think it's "dodgy" at all. Anyway, let's not derail this with talk of Iran, start another thread to discuss if you wish.

So it's a height thing, probably under 5'-10" Sports tourers are great as long as you don't need to off road anything more than the pub Carpark.

Adventure bikes for taller people unless altered.

Whilst the ZZR is great VFM it's still only good for shorter people, which makes sense as the people I know who have owned them have previously had blackbirds and VFRs and been less than 5-9"

Shorter riders can ride adventure bikes with lowered seats, forks etc, but taller riders cannot get comfortable on the sports tourers. Being 6ft would explain whilst on occasions I get cramp in my thighs on sports tourers but not adventure bikes.

Having used various bikes for Euro tours I've found the upright riding style of off road based bike suits me, my vfr nearly crippled me and we weren't doing long days. Also if it can do over 100mph without trying I'm not interested.
