I go to France every year and have friends there who both ride various bikes. She has a BMW F800ST and was complaining her husband was always riding off ahead on his [mint] K100RS. Then he bought a Ducati and it got worse. Last year when we were there he got yet another Ducati making it 4 bikes in the shed. She took out his old one and strangely the problem resolved itself. So now when they go somewhere the tradition that he got there first and had the coffees up on the table has ended and they now roll up together. Still got 4 bikes in the shed, one being the K100RS which my friend I travel with bought to leave in France for occasional flying visits.
Bottom line, don't let anyone stop you. And do visit from one end to the other. Northern Ireland, the Mournes, the North Antrim Coast A2 road and Torr Head all worth a visit in their own right. In good weather many of these places, like Scotland and the South West are in my opinion better than anything more 'exotic' places have to offer. People will always stop and talk to you.
