Re: The Honda Africa twin 1000 , warts and all.
On Sunday I was out on my Tiger 1050--and must admit with Hyperpro suspension its very sorted and the engine is a peach--if triple figures are not enough then you need to be racing!--to be honest its pretty much the perfect long distance tourer (which is what most so called big adventure bikes really are--but dressed up as something different).I really can't see that spending another 8k is going to give me anything! Mine has no ABS etc and I agree that you are very much in touch with the bike. I then took out my 89 CBR600 jellymould--and boy that bike is fun-never used more than 9k with another 3k if I wanted it-I'm a pensioner and my wrists are not great but the early CBRs were more a sports tourer with a tractable engine to match--CBR=city bike racer--ride to work in the week and race at the weekend!

I'd be gutted if that was my bike! I'm guessing the top 2 pictures are the rear subframe and if they are I'd be wanting a new one from Honda rather than the existing one touching in.

There's still a lot of salt dust about (as I've found out)--even though the roads appear dry--and with a slight bit of condensation and the bike sitting about its going to happen--very important to get the cold water hose out and give it a thorough blasting to wash it out of the crannies--and nooks!

My CRF fixings showed sign of this after literally a few days riding in the wet
It's not really good enough. I have a '97 Africa Twin that gets ridden all year round in all weathers, never gets washed or particularly well looked after and yet the build quality seems many many times better than our new model

I think you're right, my 1150 looks like that...johnnyboxer wrote:Honda build quality, looks like it's no better than BMW's

Hmm not looking good
hmy: but yes there is still some salt left on the roads, saw a lot of bikes out Sunday and wondered how many of them realised how much salt is still about, my S10 is still ACF50`ed from winter and I am only now thinking about giving it a spring clean (thumbs)
