Hi All,
I've a 2015 GSA with stock MICHELIN Anakee 2's on, and yes they make an awful lot of noise on the open road. So a simple question to the group. What are people swapping to when they scrub out the stock tyres. Mine are about out and before I go shopping for some new ones, I wanted to poll around.
Many thanks,
Stuart.

Re: BMW R1200 GSA - What tyres
I've run alsorts on mine then last year decided to go back to and fit tourances and did a long wet trip and fully loaded couldn't fault the grip or wear on them. They inspired confidence in wet weather cornering which some I've tried didn't.
Re: BMW R1200 GSA - What tyres
I bought my GSA secondhand with 2800 miles on it, the Anakees had plenty of tread left but had squared off slightly, were noisy and didn't inspire confidence.
I replaced them with Metzeler Tourance Next and they have transformed the bike.

Re: BMW R1200 GSA - What tyres
Thanks for the feedback. My sons bike has Tourance Next on it, so that might be an option. And to be honest, I've not come across TKC70's before, so might have a look at those. Used TKC80's a lot on the travels for the dirt.
The other one I've always thought about, but never got on the bike are Hiendenau K60's.
Either way, sounds like lots of options to ditch the Anakees and makes you wonder why BMW fit these from new.

Re: BMW R1200 GSA - What tyres
They're buying thousands of tyres and cut the best deal they can. My 1200GS is almost through the rear Anakee 3 at 4700 miles and it's squared. Not noticed too much road noise though.stuartgoble wrote:Thanks for the feedback. My sons bike has Tourance Next on it, so that might be an option. Planning to replace front and rear with Tourance Next when the time comes.

do you get a lot of wind noise as well, i have the standard model without the winglets and its really noisy

I have an LC GSA, there is a fair bit of mechanical noise which reflects back at you from the screen. But certainly (on the GSA at least), there is a lot of buffeting caused by the shape of the screen. I replaced mine with a VRA Vario screen and that has improved things a lot.
