Looks like i missed all the fun Steve ! If we go anywhere near those lanes on our next outing i will definitely be leaving the 640 at home (again) and opting for the freeride

Yep, your report on your day out reminded me of exactly why I decided to pack up trail riding in the UK. I was riding from my teens right through to late fifties and over that time have seen so many lanes destroyed by 4x4's. People wonder why there are so many lanes being closed or restricted. I think your report says it all. A great shame but there it is. We have lanes in this area that were once a joy to ride but now it is barely possible to walk along them due to the damage caused by the 4x4 fools.

Sad, but true

Luckily up here, most are solid limestone and only a bomb would destroy the lane

However some of the typical green lanes,with 2 hedges and a grassy 40' carriageway of old...........really beautiful ancient carriageways have been totally fecked by 4x4 usage, by total MORONS

Out of interest, how are the width restrictions enforced... Big rock or concrete bollards?

To be honest, while I wish that the 4x4s didn't do the damage they have *and* I wish that they wouldn't cause issues which result in lanes being threatened with closure... I quite like the way they make some lanes 'interesting' from a riding perspective...

I'm kind of glad I didn't make the effort to come along! If the going is muddy, I nick my son's Senda 50. you can pick it up (if your feeling man) and walk it over the hazard. Will do 55 on the road too. Can be embarrassing getting it into the power band when stood still to get over a rock though!
