Lake District at Windermere. So nice when the roads are quiet......

Northumberland National Park - despite being my most local National Park, I'd never ridden the Old Military Road that runs alongside Hadrians Wall. As you might expect, mostly dead straight! Quite elevated and with a lot of the Wall in view - thoroughly recommended.

Park number 4 - a very breezy ride from home in Berwick up to Aviemore. But this time on my new bike, a 55 plate 1200GS. Very happy indeed!

Number 5 - a very wet and windy trip taking in Loch Lomond (Balloch), Arrochar and Aberfoyle.....
Pretty quiet for a June Sunday!

Number Six - the Forest Park at Arrochar. Nice wooden statues!
Re: 222FishfoodBerwick upon Tweed BMW R1200GS
and Number Seven - the visitor centre off Duke's Pass, on the road from Aberfoyle to Brig O'Turk. The Trossach's are such a nice part of the world. Now where to next?

Nice one Fishfood - How's the BM comparing to the Transalp?
Only 3 more for bronze!!!!

Really enjoying the GS - very stable, runs well, around 50-55 mpg regardless, no oil use and pretty nimble. So many of my concerns put to one side! Gearbox a bit clunky due to 'agricultural' tolerances, and thats a big difference from the Transalp which was supersmooth. Can sit comfortably all day at motorway speeds, whilst on the TA it felt like you were wearing out the engine rapidly - that bike really should have a sixth gear. Still loved the TA though - did a 3500 mile trip around the Balkans on it, and developed an emotional attachment along the way! Wasn't an easy decision to part with it.
And yes, three more for bronze! Galloway and North York Moors are closest....after that the Peaks - which will be a weekend away, despite being oop north!
