Just has it happens I got a set yesterday. I'd arranged to ride down to Bernie at Stahlkoffer. My intention was to purchase a new set there and then not realising they are made to order. So Bernie showed me what he could do and how long it would take to get them. Then I took a shine to these ones. There old stock ex-demo and just what I was after. I would have liked them in all black however they do look rather striking in gun metal.

Bernie has offered to take them back at a later date to get them powder coated in black for free but I like the gun metal look and it suits the bike.

Bernie couldn't do enough his customer service is more than excellent. I highly recommend his service. His panniers are fist class I am extremely happy with them. :)

and I got them for a fantastic price.

Here are the beauties.

Adventure motorcycling is a challenge for those who go but only a dream for those who stay behind.

Jimmy Saville was a Commando and many were presented their daggers by the man himself.

Hate to shoot you down in flames, but he was never a commando. He completed the 30 miler in the 70's and was awarded an honourary Green Beret.
The only other civilian person to do it was a recent Blue Peter presenter, Gethin Jones.
Hmmm. Someone told me that the old Blue Peter presenter did the same and was awarded similarly. Peter someone? Apparently he was ridiculously fit and was more than keeping up. He was the one they later revealed as a porn star (yes, him) so there's obviously something to be said for the profession.... can anyone confirm?

Sorry, Panniers. Just bought mountings, fixing kit and boxes from 3 different parties in 1 night (2 off ebay). Praying it all fits together and will post when tried. Old Nonfango stuff, so none of this glamorous ally business :)

There was a series on TV recently "The 50 year old COmmando" Chris Terril a reporter, did all the Commando tests and passed them all.
Kin good effort. I did it at 21 and I was one of the oldest in the troop!!

Not the most exciting of setups or indeed the most expensive

Oxford soft panniers. £50 as I remember. It took a while to get them to lift above the exhaust.
They are not totally waterproof but I bought a couple of bags from decathlon and it works a treat.
I do miss the idea of being able to sit on the metal pannier when camping though.

Next big purchase will bs 3 panniers from Roger at Ardcases - why 3
2 symmetrical ones for the varadero and a smaller one for the exhaust side of the twin

Capacity unsure, but fit 12 full size cans of beer in each ;) or a Laptop Bag if you insist.

Also a good space for Advertising.

Just to add another civvie to get his green beret was a chap called chris Terrell he made the tv programme 'commando' and while he was making the documentary about marines in training he did the course alongside them and passed it at the tender age of 55!! Respect!
For my part, I travel not to go anywhere, but to go. I travel for travels sake. The great affair is to move
