It was miles ahead of a Commando or Bonneville but was it that far ahead of the triples? The RC30 was just a vastly improved version of a road bike so hardly innovative.
Where they could have smashed it was when they beat the others in bringing out a turbo charged bike but they stuck it on the CX500!
If you look back over the decades at any given market sector Honda usually have the sensible model in that sector and that's why I can't help thinking they're dull and need painting beige
