Soft luggage needed - Buy or 'Rent' for trip down to Palermo - Sicily in July

Post by MojoGuzzi »

Hi. I'm looking for a luggage solution for my KTM 990 Adv, that won't require me parting with a Kidney or other body part. My bike came with Pannier frames - I think for the Hepco Becker Gobi variety, but there is no way I can warrant that kind of money for something I won't use that often.

So, anyone have suitable soft luggage system that would work on my bike, that I could 'Rent' / Borrow or if your not using ever again, buy at a good price?

Thanks in advance

If Oxford soft panniers would work for you then I can lend you a set free of charge. I live in Bedford and have no intention of doing a delivery service for you but if they'd be ok and you can collect then return they're yours for as long as you need them.

You don't say whether you will be taking a pillion or not. If not, you can't go far wrong with a Lomo holdall http://www.ewetsuits.com/acatalog/Motor ... ories.html and some Rok Straps http://www.rokstraps.com/

Less than £50 and you are sorted.

I have just bought the Jofama saddle bag for my 990 Adv, 52 litres, waterproof inner bags, £90 from Motolegends. Looks a decent bit of kit and sits nicely over the pillion seat leaving room for a medium sized rollbag on my KTM extended rack.

I've just upgraded my old army backpacks and gone for three 40l Lomo drybags. will need a few straps and some minimal frame but the bags only cost about £45 :)
And now, Harry, let us step out into the night and pursue that flighty temptress, adventure.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. Managed to blag myself a set of mildly used Hepco and Becker Gobi's for a £100 off of a chap in Belgium. Damn I love ebay :)

Thanks minkyhead for the link you posted. I've been looking for a small waterproof tail bag for short 1 or 2 day trips (non camping) http://www.wheelup.it/gb_en/ have come up trumps for me and with relatively low delivery costs to France.
They have a good range of gear and are worth having a look at.
