Im crossing Switzerland next week on the E35 - do I need a vignette?

As the thread topic suggests;

Next week I am going to be riding across Switzerland leaving Mulhouse in France to enter at Basel. From there I am taking the E35 to Lucernethen what looks like route 4, the Brunigstrasse. The across to Andermatt on route 19 to Vaduz.

Will I need a Vignette?

I think you only need the vignette on certain roads if you keep off these you should not have to fork out the high price they charge, but check.

travel that way most years
all motorways vignette
some single carriage ways are classed as motorways
most larger border crossings they check most of the time
not got through at basel yet without one

others have different opinions
this is mine beats the fine

I shall be purchasing one! I managed to speak with a friend of mine in Zurich over Skype and he gave the same advice that you have all kinda given - get one!

Plus, I am liking the 29c info.....bit of a good mix of weather.

Traveled that very route today and as said, one is needed for most mayor routes. Don't buy one at the border off an official as he sticks if on and renders it useless . Try and buy from a services and keep it intact then sell it when you get home! By the way the temp here is 29degrees C

Do you just pick one up once you get into Switzerland from a fuel station then? Is the only other option a overpriced one at the border? Is there anywhere else before hand?

They're the same price wherever you purchase then in Switzerland but bought at the border they'll stick it straight on the bike and leave you with no chance of selling it later.

I buy online then put it inside the map sleeve on my tankbag and if I get stopped I play the idiot card (easy for me) and say I wasn't aware that it had to be actually stuck to the bike. If you get home without using it then simply sell it on for whatever you think is a fair price.
