During my travels beyond the UK, I've never seen any Drift cameras or accessories for sale. Whereas GoPro cameras and accessories are everywhere - some great bargains in Singapore airport.
I'm going to NZ soon. Should I sell the Drift to buy a GoPro?
Of course, I could keep the Drift but that's a lot of different gadgets to carry.
What features of the GP would you change?
What accessories are a must have?
And if you had a GP then switched to Drift, why?

Re: Go-Pro - what would you change?
This is the best mount that I have bought for the GoPro: the Jaws: Flex Clamp. The clamp is so strong you can put it in most places. I had mine mounted to the right crash bar when I dropped the Tiger on a trail: the bike landed right on top of the camera and mount but, when we righted the bike, nothing was broken and the camera was still running.

The only thing I would change is having more positive feeling buttons as sometimes, with gloved hands, you're not 100% sure that you've pressed the button if you cannot see the display or hear the beeps.

I'd swap my 2nd hand Hero 2 for a new Hero 3.
Agree with the point about the buttons, made above.
Will keep my eyes peeled for one of those clamps (thumbs)

Have a look on eBay, they're cheaper than from GoPro!The Wilbur wrote:Will keep my eyes peeled for one of those clamps (thumbs)

Elle , for use off road with lots of branches over hanging shit the go pro is a pain as its to big . The drift is not so big ,the videos that you had from your last trip were good so why change . spend the money on some more gas and ride more .
I tend to do lots of off road and am looking at getting something smaller as we do lots of , let just go through this hedge and see were it takes us kind of shit  .
don't waste your money on that must have gadget (thumbs)

I went from Drift (HD170s and Drift HDs) to GoPro (Hero2, H3 and now 3+) because IMHO they are better. Many reasons why I think they are but quality of footage and the invaluable functions on the Remote and App stand out. Like you have found, it is also much easier to get accessories for GoPro. Just my opinion based on what I need from a camera.

Go Pros are great, battery life is the weak link.
Buy some Wasabi batteries to keep you going.

True. That is my dilemma, plus it's now 100% paid for :huh:MR X wrote:...the videos that you had from your last trip were good so why change
Whilst in NZ, the microphone fell apart, then on my return to the UK, the waterproof cover broke into pieces. ActionCamera replaced both immediately but that wouldn't be so quick if overseas.
It's a big advantage of the GoPro that most outdoor shops sell it. But I'm not keen on using a camera as a lightening conductor. Can the GoPro be mounted to the side of the helmet like my Drift?
btw - the buttons for the Drift aren't that great with gloves on. Using a remote control is great

Re buttons. The hero3+ buttons are far better than any previous models so they must be listening.
What would I change. Better battery life but from what I know most makes suffer when filming high quality. The sticky out mounting as commented ain't great and the drift does mount to a helmet far more compactly. But for me when I bought mine all the reasons you list is why I bought go pro. Mounts and availability of bits.
Have you googled to see if anyone has done a drift to go pro mount adaptor?

Re: Go-Pro - what would you change?
Yes it can. I have a mount on the top and on the side of my helmet; you just need to use the arms (which come with the camera) to form an elbow.Elle wrote:Can the GoPro be mounted to the side of the helmet like my Drift?
