TKC 80 or Karoo3

Hi All. I know this has been discussed a few times before but I can't find the thread. I would like to get some more off road oriented tires, currently running on tourances but as the trails are getting wetter, the traction is getting worse. I've seen many tires and end up with two possible choices: Karro 3 and tkc80s. I do most of my riding on tarmac, and London daily commute, so I understand neither are going to last very long, but I prefer to have much traction as possible on tarmac, and be able to use the trails in the winter, and these seam to be the better (or at least most popular)choices. I've also seen the Heidenau, but apparently they are not very good on the road. Any advice much appreciated (please comment on these two options only). I'm running TKC up front, and a K60 on the rear and find it an excellent combination on and off road. However, happily I do not do much wet road work.... :cheer:

ive just put on karoo 3's...well the front to be honest because it as weaving between 30-40 mph on the scorp. i'll put the rear on and a sprocket change...16t at the weekend.

did my homework and the price and road manners aswell as sizable tread would help off piste.

looking to build a set of narrow wheels for mt21's or metzler 6 day mce's etc.

I had Karoo 3 rear tire for about 4-5000 km but then changed it back to k60scout. I didn't like them at all, nothing was good with them.

tkc have a very soft carcase. also expensive.

you can get karoo mce's if you want off road.

Still can't fault the e09 on a rear.

In on my third set of Karoo 3. Had TKC before but find the Karoo better on road and the TKC marginally better off. The Karoo do make a loud noise at speed just to remind you they're no Tourances.

TKC80's all the time on my 1200GSA for me...........Been using them on my bikes since 2002 with the odd pair of Tourances which I've changed very quickly!

Getting over 5k miles out of a rear TKC80 as they wear down near the limit and seem to stay there a long time. The front does wear the back of the tread blocks off and feels pretty dreadful in slow turns arouns 15-30mph but they're predictable.

I have more confidence in my TKC80's even in the wet and especially on our farm roads than I've ever had with Tourances

I've used Karoos and Karoo T as well on my 1150GSA and HP2E and they were even more off road orientated than the TKC80 and I'd love to try the Karoo 3
