Touratech Sat Nav Mount

Hi Folks,
I've recently got round to buying a Garmin 390LM (3xx series) and bought a Touratech mount to go on my 990 Adventure.

My initial thought and easiest for me was to just plug it in to the 12v accessory socket (simple).

Q. With one of these mounts do I have to hard wire it to the bike? Reason I ask is because I've just finished putting my bike back together again.
