working for a local council in refuse collection I am NOT surprised what people throw away

we have to deal with the CBA (can't be arsed) white British culture and the KNB (know no better) eastern Europeans

the KNB's I can forgive but the CBA are the finest of white British trash and can be viewed all over the globe

Makes me sad.

When I was 16 I went wild camping and made a mess once. We went back a few days later and found our mess. Felt really guilty and cleared it up.
And now, Harry, let us step out into the night and pursue that flighty temptress, adventure.

This really annoys me as they don't think of anything other than themselves and their own convenience. When out in the hills (peak district) I will regularly carry out other peoples crap to do my bit but it is a drop in the ocean.
I work to live. I live to ride. I ride to work, Ever felt like your going in circles.

years ago I lived in the usa for a while.the wilderness areas were a favorite of mine you could hike all day and in the evening come across a log cabin for public use ,they were always left clean firewood stocked often people would leave matches candles and other little useful items for the next occupant also there was a journal for occupants to write their adventures etc. Of course these were not accessible by car you needed to put some effort in to get to them. In the uk effort to many is taboo making so much of little value.

I once read a story about the rubbish left on Ben Nevis & how it takes an army of people every year to fill the black bags and carry the crap back down the mountain.

What I find hilarious (not) about people is that they would watch a documentary about the slums in India or Africa and be the first to complain about the mountain of shite those folk live in. Then be quite happy to throw their takeaway cartons into the countryside & leave dog shit in the street. It costs councils thousands per year just to remove chewing gum from pavements!

If the UK didn't have bins to put stuff in & an infrastructure to collect then dispose of our crap on a regular basis, the UK would also look like a giant tip:
"The amount of waste produced in the UK
in nine months – would fill Lake Windermere"

So true, apparently the same can be said of the
Himalayas / Everest where you would suppose the climbing fraternity ( not all I'm sure) would be more aware. As a teacher I once made a group of boys who blatantly dropped food litter spend a period cleaning the playground. One irate parent came in demanding to see me complaining that I had emotionally scarred his son, and anyway that's what school keepers were employed for ( keeping them in a job!) took him down to meet the school keepers so they could thank him for keeping them gainfully employed! Went very quiet.

The other places we stayed (South Hebrides) were not set up for wild camping although there was evidence of previous visitors because of the fire pits but again no litter or anything.
So there are responsible campers out there and obviously we left it as we found it ready for the next people ;) .
Exactly as it should be done tonibe well done, and to the other 90%(?) Of folks who have some sort of social responsibility, ie they give a toss!
Unfortunately as bowber said, the vast majority leave no traces, but the idiots leave plenty of evidence of their visit. "Leave nothing but footprints, take nothing but pictures" isn't that what they say?
I'm in two minds about this right to roam and wild camping freedom in Scotland, on the one hand its a fantastic right (obviously, derr!) But if we had it down here in the overpopulated south these problems would be 50 times worse

So what is it about the Brits? I love wild camping and NEVER leave a mess. As usual, it's the retard minority that spoil it for everyone else. Best thing to do is to stuff whatever they throw away down their scumbag throats!
