Which is the best map/atlas for Europe? I want a paper map for planning a route through france Belgium Luxembourg Germany etc so will I have to get all separate ones or is there a complete atlas available. I have planned a route already but I don't know which roads are tolls.
Is there any other way to tell the toll roads?
Cheers
Europe paper maps
Re: Europe paper maps
I usually get individual maps, as the atlas things don't have the same amount of detail, though they're fine for a rough Idea.
Re: Europe paper maps
If I wasn't planning on using a satnav I'd buy Michelin paper maps of the areas I was intending to spend most time in then back them up with a tablet computer and either use my mobile as a hotspot to get on the internet or rely on finding free hotspots. Google maps is a lot better than any road atlas for planning an overview of a trip.
Re: Europe paper maps
I still like to use maps..as well as my Satnav...I like the Phillips Easyread Europe, shows decent detail...(covers most of Europe) you can get an A4 size (or bigger) A4 size fits in topbox ok....it shows toll roads....but google maps is best for planning.
Re: Europe paper maps
I find the michelin country specific maps excellent for general guidance alongside my sat nav s they show the major roads and the scenic routes which carry the green highlite..
Also used the AA maps for france which are ign mapped so the mapping is from french company..
getting lost is sometimes fun (thumbs)

Re: Europe paper maps
Another one for the Michelin Maps which I'm just about to get back to for our trip to the Pyrenees, Millau and the Route Napoleon in July.

Michelin, it has to be
We buy things we don't need
With money we don't have
To impress people we don't even like

Re: Europe paper maps
ok thanks! ive just ordered the Michelin Europe map.
Yes google is the best option when planning on the computer its just a bit awkward regarding toll roads because its either all or nothing when some of the time its better using the odd one so how do i know which are tolls or not? is there any other mapping software where the tolls are different colours or just clearly marked like on a paper michelin map i once seen, looking at viamichelin there not marked up on that either?
