A Tiger with TKCs!

Post by Babbs »

Thought I should post a could of before/after pictures. Fitted TKC80 front and rear yesterday to my new tiger and decided to get exploring!

The grip on and off road is phenomenal, the power is superb! If a little scary  but unperturbed I managed a few of the trickier byways near Newbury....oh so much fun!

The DR is far more manageable due to being lighter and having less power but the Tiger is deffinately fun and hard work (due mainly to my limited experience :side: )

Well done. It is mentally how much difference they make. I wont go back to road tyres ever again. I like the idea of best of both worlds. You will have to keep us updated on the life you get out of them. Im now on 7200miles on my karoo3/mefo combination.

Looking at the bike. Who makes the top crash bar?
All you need now is a set of barkbusters and a set of lamps.
What h and b panniers you got?

Top bars are from touratech, went for stainless as opposed to black at an extra £15! (thumbs) no panniers yet as I was thinking more on the lines of soft ones from adventurespec (magadan types)

Will be fitting better handguards as soon as they arrive, and still uncertain which lamps I want to get.

Also giving serious thought to getting the Safari tank for it too!

My guess is 3000 - 3500 miles for the rear.

I got about 2750 a set on my XT600. The Tiger is a smoother power delivery and will put less power pulsing through the chain, but it does have a lot more power, so I guess it will depend how hard you are on the throttle.

Have you tried Roxbar risers? I've got them on mine and they make the bars feel much more like where they should be unless you're an orangatang.
What DR did you have? I find my tiger quite a big step up from my DR650 and wouldn't really fancy taking it off road at all. Took the DR everywhere no problem.....
