Briefly press the on/off button, and a menu for sound and brightness will appear.

It's in the setting's I am away at the moment and don't have mine with me, if I remember right go into setting and click on volume and you can alter the volume, for media, navigation, alert's you do each one separate by %
If this does not help go on the garmin forum you can find out all sorts of shortcuts and tip's on there
If your not the lead dog the view never change's

that only puts me in the volume mixer menu, the set up i have(had) was to hear mp3 music, directions, phone and alerts blue toothed from the garmin mounted on my bike to my schuberth helmet. When i removed the garmin from its mount and tryed to listern to music through its speaker it was silent though play back could be still to be happening with the count down of the music this is were it all gets a bit hazey  i pressed something and was promted do you wish to hear playback through internal speaker? pressed it sure enough favourite music played through the speaker trouble is it seams to be stuck on internal speaker playback setting even when mounted back on bike only phone sounds are blue toothed direction, music and alerts are only visual :( i have been on garmin site they only say what you guys have said ie. volume mixer menu googled only some site that wants to replace damaged speakers :( thinking now maybe back and do a restore ?

Well you've got me there... I don't use any audio when my 660 is on the bike, but I do use the MP3 player when off the bike.

I've not come across any facility to turn off the speaker other than the 'Mute' option.
