Actually, dangerous driving is a minimum of a Low Level Community Order, say, 40 hours unpaid work (what used to be community service); it carries a minimum 12 month disqualification; the Court must order an extended retest - and those are the minimums allowed in the sentencing guidelines. If it is considered more serious, Magistrates can jail you for 6 months and ban you for 24 months plus the retest; and if you go to the Crown Court, well, don't book a holiday for too soon after the hearing.africajim wrote:As you do not have proper control of the vehicle it would be dangerous driving, 10 points if not a ban plus large fine.
If it's careless driving, anything from 3 - 9 points, may disqualify, may order retest, may fine up to £5000.
All assumes you are caught, of course.....
