I wouldn't pay same as no moto gp next year, can't afford non vital things when you haven't got a job.
Re: ABR Forum - Pay As You Go?
I'm a member of XRV. I never subscribed to that forum, I just put up with less "privileges". Then, not so long ago, they did away with Subscription. I can now PM as much as I like AND add photo's. The forum is great. It also doesn't suffer from slow loading.
So XRV is free for me, and it's as fast as Guy Martin on a pushbike
So no I don't want to pay to use a site I've been using for ages.

Re: ABR Forum - Pay As You Go?
Sorry but i wouldn't pay i'm a student so funds can be tight and i dont subscribe but buy the mag whenever i can afford it (pretty much every time it comes out)
I can deal without PMs but think blocking the for sales for free members is daft more eyes that see the ads the more chance it will sell so its not a punishment for the free users but the paying users as they will loose out on potential sales
Plus advertising will be earning a bit and everytime someone clicks on a add its extra money ( not sure but how it worked at a place i worked advertising space paid then more for every visitor add brought in )
You could also sell more advertising at the bottom of the page and sides

Just make it so you have to register to view the content. Surely that would get rid of some of the 1450 guests online at present.
A lot of them are probably registered though but just not signed in and having a browse. I know I'm guilty of that.

Re: ABR Forum - Pay As You Go?
I'd be happier to see more adverts to raise money rather than paying a subscription fee then part of the deal for subscribers can be no adverts, higher number of pm's, more photos and generally just an advert free 'full fat' version of the free one.
Re: ABR Forum - Pay As You Go?
This forum basically helps advertise and sell the magazine, it also gets advertising revenue.... we, the posters, are instrumental in helping that happen. So there's no way I would pay money for that.
As forums go, this one isn't that busy anyway.... charge and it will die a death in no time. Advertisers would not pay for ads where only a few people are going to see them.
When a forum does something to make posters leave, it only has a knock on effect of making more posters leave, because posters get bored with a forum that starts to become dead. Its a vicious circle and charging would definitely start that circle.

Re: Re: ABR Forum - Pay As You Go?
I wouldnt pay to use this forum. Its good, but as said by others, there are plenty of good free sites out there.
I run a small forum hosted on the ProBoards site - thats free to host and free to run and free for the users to use. Cant see why this forum would need to charge.
Back to the OP - I haven't noticed any slowness of the forum either via a web browser or via tapatalk ob android phones/tablets or blackberry.

no way I would pay. This is the forum for a magazine for profit. They advertise on site and generate custom for the magazine which in turn has plenty of revenue from adverts.
