They make to their own internal market only as it's big enough and don't care about the rest of the world.

I like America and made some good mates over there when I was working in New York but some aspects of their society are just backwards and some are more advanced than ours.

The US bike industry will wake up one day a try to get a slice of BMW have got. It will be very interesting to see what they come up with. Well, they have just come with the latest thing, another aircooled v-twin called, I believe, Indian. But there is also Brammo, Zero, electric bikes which will probably be the future. Who needs foreign bikes anymore when the best bikes in the world are currently made here in Europe.

Harley-Davidson make three times as many bikes as BMW each year.

Ktm are the biggest european maker, still all three are only in the thousands, Honda make eleven million, Zongshen, now the world's largest, make fifteen million annually. But when the made in India Harleys come on stream that will help to increase the sales.

I didn't say the Japanese invented water cooling, but they were mass producing motorbikes with it 30 years before Harley Davidson did!

I started out on so called ol'skool bikes in the 60's and what rubbish they were compared to todays machines. How old skool do you mean? Acetylene lights maybe, or no gears or brakes, 7bhp from a 1 litre engine. Did any biker in 1930 want an old skool bike from 1901,or earlier, no they wanted the latest thing.
