This post is aimed at Norrie who said that he had not received a response from the Motocamp when he emailed, this will be of use to others as well I hope.....

Polly & Ivo tell me that they had delayed responding to Norrie because, as things stand at the moment, all rooms have now been booked(still plenty of room for campers so no panic there). However, they have been working on a new "apartment" which will have 4 beds for 4 willing to share but they are unsure if it would be finished in time (I suspect that it will be). So they have held off responding until then.

Andy & Debbie in the same village have an apartment to rent (it is only 500 metres or so from the Motocamp) - it has a lounge (with pull out bed to sleep 2) and a bedroom with double bed. They charge around 40 leva per night for the apartment (not per person)- so if they are 4 good mates or 2 good couples then this would be an alternative)

There are a couple of "rustic" alternatives near the Motocamp which may be possible to use if the numbers requiring rooms swell much more. I have 4 bedrooms at my house plus a double sofa bed in the lounge but at least 2 bedrooms are spoken for and I don't know what my family arrangements will be at that time next year - so nearer the time I will have a better idea.

Basically, the message is if you are definitely coming then get your booking done ASAP. Polly & Ivo will request deposits via Paypal for those who have booked rooms some time in the middle of next year.

Mark (Bushman) has spent a lot of time on organising this trip so we hope that you will enjoy Bulgaria as much as we have. Lots to see and do here so looking forward to seeing you all in August.

the trip for me will be hotels all the way and maybe a few stops en route such as the church of bones .
I am open to leaving dates at the moment, Martin may be joining me so if any body wishes to ride with us you will be welcome.
That's the sort of trip down me and the good lady want to do, we'll be eurotunneling across from Somerset, I know it's still a way off yet but if nearer the time you could post a meeting location, we'd like to join you for that part of the trip.
Cheers

Thats exactly the route I had in mind especialy through Rumania as I've done the Adriatic coast.
Keep me posted as well please with Dates & meet ups. Thanks Brian.
I need something to keep me going through the autumn/winter so I'm changing my 'status' from a maybe to a definite (barring unforeseen events of course). I too would like to travel with Mark's group if that's OK. I'd be leaving from Somerset so could possibly travel first leg with Somerset John? Only thing is I can't afford (time or money) to take much longer than a fortnight for the holiday. When would this group be leaving/returning to the UK?

Excellent - something to look forward to now!

So here is a route map of what i think would be an easy route down to Bulgaria without being to boring , keeping it fairly cheap. Get across the west quick . A stop somewhere in Holland /Belgium to meet up the other side of the channel then a blast for the Czech Republic for Prague or Kutna Hora (church of Bones )then a nice bimble through the back lanes of Slovakia and Hungary. Romania will bring some challenges with a zig zag route down the Trans Alpina and then back up for the Transfagarasan and from there head for Bulgaria and the motto camp.

This is not a must do or a route in stone , if you wish to Travel in a group then give some input in what you want and give some ideas or make your own way there , i will not be upset either way. If it's worked out, above, under "Route map" there should be a Hyperlink showing the map, if not i shall post it on the FB page aswell
That looks a great route Mark. I've just started trying to work out some ballpark costs for the holiday and, starting with fuel, assuming 4000 miles at 50mpg (optimistic!) and current UK fuel prices I reckon we're looking at £500 in fuel at least. Better start saving!

Petrol here in Bulgaria is around £1.10 per litre. Beer & cigarettes are very cheap so once you are here you will save a bit. If you are a smoker leave some space in your panniers for the journey back - around £2.30 a pack.

There may be some off road bikes available for hire - more details in the New Year

Thanks Mark. I'd be up for hiring an off roader if one was available.
