Does anyone out there know why the touring version of the Tenere has 50mm knocked off the suspension travel.
I know it's quite a high seat on the standard but the touring only gets this down by 30mm.
I would like to know as I am thinking of this as my next bike and don't want to spend out on the touring model and have to live withit and regretting it for the next 4 or 5 years.

It's likely that this is due to fitting a heavier spring to compensate for extra load carrying capacity
Increasing the spring rate will reduce the amount of travel. A heavier spring rate should have the shock revalved to compensate. Overall the bike will feel much stiffer at the back
If you are touring all the time you ride it then go for it but if you're not then I would give it a wide berth and just adjust your riding style when loaded

the touring version seems to be released to appeal more to road only users, who find standard tenere too high.
also touring bike versions are usually made lower for stability.

I have the normal tenere - but with a hagon shock fitted that has a hydraulic preload adjuster so I can add some when the Mrs gets on the back or when loaded. Works for me.....
