Stelvio Pass

Hoping to go over the Stelvio at the end of May en route to Moto Gp at Mugello,
where does it start and end? there appear to be to routes once you are on the SS38 one to Teglio, the other to SS300 to Ponte de Legno any hel and advice would be welcomed

End of May be just rite, Its a fabulouse climb and the cafe at the top a great coffee and thinking "How lucky am I" spot. The Italian side was in better condition last time I went. Worth the effort.............enjoy.

Heading south through Austria, past Nauders, into Italy ( on SS40) go past a lake, past some awesome sweeping bends, Turn right onto the SS38 all the way to Bormio.

Went over the stelvio last September though to be honest I preferred the fluella pass.Going back over the stelvio at the beginning of June on my way to the Adriatic.

I'll add my name to the "done" it, and think there are more enjoyable passes in the Alps. Views down the valley to the east and towards the hairpins is something great, but you get a good idea from Google Street View.

Done the stelvio twice it is an amazing bit of road. Watch out mad cyclists and it can get busy limited overtaking unless your a bit brave.
There are loads of other good passes around that arent as busy and its worth exploring them. John henans book motorcycle journeys through the alps and beyond is a good place to start.
Loads of good roads around canazei and arabba you can ride 18 passess in a day.

If you're planning to do any of the high passes it's worth checking the day before that they're open because when we did the Mugello GP a few years back several were still shut. It's a real pain if you plan your route and suddenly find that part of it is shut and you face a 100 mile detour.
