Cancer Charity Ride - An idea to raise cash!!
Re: Cancer Charity Ride - An idea to raise cash!!
This is a great idea! I'm keen to get involved. I'm in Cambridge and am either happy to go for a ride with Rikbat while he has it (how is it getting here from Banbury? Maybe I can help there?) Otherwise I'm planning on going to the Touratech travel event (same weekend as the Taffy Dakar though - so if that can help let me know).

Sorry to hear about your wife doing it tough, it must be very hard for both of you.
We are short of a ride on the 29th April if you could help out there it would be great. We have a ride finishing in Manchester on Sat 28th. The baton then needs to be collected from around that area and then I thought it would be nice for it to take a spin around the Buxton area which looks all lovely on my map!
Any good to ya? If nothing happened after that day The baton would then collected from you on Friday 31st by a rider on his way to the HUBB meet at Donnington park
Any good to you?
Cheers
Will

It will be me riding across from Banbury on we'd 24th. I might be meeting another rider near Newport pagnell then heading to Cambridge to meet rickbat. Want to ride out and meet me somewhere en route? Know any good lanes?
If you want to do thurs or fri with rickbat just PM him
Cheers

Sunday 26 is good for me
What sort of route are people looking for, terrain and time wise?

I'm not down to bring the baton to Bristol - but I'll be arriving in Wales sometime that weekend (having come up through France - see: PHiss) - and I'll need to meet up with you to pick up the baton for my stint carrying it over to Ireland for the ABR rally the following weekend - to then hand over Milshy.
Looking at my diary it would seem the weekend of the Taffy Dakar is a Bank Hol one - so I'll have the Monday free? In fact I might be arriving in the UK on Sat - so might welcome a ride around Wales that weekend anyway (and perhaps camp out). Could you let me know roughly which part of Wales you'd be in on Sun/Mon?
Cheers
Pat
Hi Pat,
The bar at the Ancient Britain sounds a perfectly reasonable place to meet
I'll be tail-end charlie on the Sunday rideout around the Elan Valley so hopefully won't have too much of a hangover after we chew the fat around the fire as you recount your adventures around South America. By the way, Slimbo on this forum and Touratech's tekkie is planning a trip around south America so worth him buying you a jar and picking your brains !
If you fancy a spin out around Wales while you're here give me a shout .
I´m not altogether sure where the Ancient Britain is - but that can easily be resolved - but the idea of beer and talk about bikes and travel sounds spot on to me, particularly after a long ride up through France.
Sunday pm also sounds about right. Are you able to point me in the direction of a campsite or B&B for the Sunday night? Would the Touratech event, for example, be a good place to rest my head (ie is it near the pub?).
Looking forward to meeting up - and saying hi to Will and Kate too (just read the bit in MCM - good stuff).
Pat

Just thought I'd say "Hi!" as RickBat told me about this one and asked if I wanted to join him on his leg (I'm not sure what's wrong with is leg, but no doubt I'll find out.)
