GB, as you know, I run with an iPhone with the TomTom app for A-B road and the "Winding Roads" option for exploring. I also use the MotionX GPS app for recording where I've been and for following pre-determined on and off-road routes. They do me fine for 99% of stuff. Instructions and music via Bluetooth too. My leather summer gloves work fine with the touch screen through the case and I have conductive thread on my winter gloves for simple clearing of pop-ups.
The MotionX app beats the MemoryMaps app (IMO) with a better UI and many extra features but MM does beat it in that you can enter a new route directly and it allows you to reverse a route which MotionX can't. I'm hoping that it will in the next update.
I like that my phone's always in my pocket so I can use it in the car or while walking too.
Satnavs, gps and navigation again...
Re: Satnavs, gps and navigation again...
Cheers Paul, the Iphone route is one I have been seriously considering but my current phone contract has got a while before it expires. I know this will sound stupid but as I ride a lot on my own I like the satnav voices in my head

Re: Satnavs, gps and navigation again...
My misgivings about using a phone for everything apart from the fact that you are stuffed if they get broken/lost/stolen are mainly that they do nothing very well. In almost every case a standalone camera/radio/music player/satnav will knock spots off the ones incorporated into phones.
Re: Satnavs, gps and navigation again...
I tend to agree with that Alan, but I think the technology in the new breed of phones is far better than it was a few years ago and it is something that should be considered especially now as the screens are bigger and brighter.

Downloaded toasty talker and basecamp to get a better idea of things.

Re: Satnavs, gps and navigation again...
Now heres a thought,(please correct me if I get any of this wrong) it seems the Montana does everything bar bluetooth but does have a 3.5 phono output socket for headphones, so if I have some flat speakers in my Arai much like the ones currently fitted via my scala, then a female audio socket tucked into the lining I could then feed directions into my helmet via a headphone type extension lead from the Montana, am I correct? If this would work it would be the ideal solution, meaning I could remove the scala lump off the side of my helmet as I'm not bothered about taking calls to my helmet, and if I was I could use the 3.5mm plug and lead?
Thoughts please.

Well they sell this Automotive Suction Cup Mount with Speaker so I'm presuming it does but can't find anything written down that it does.
