Tenere handguards

Hi

Looking for some new handguards for my Tenere 600. im not sure what make mine are...but there broke. The ally backbone snapped in between the bar end and the grip.



ive seen Acrebis ones, they look smart but (like my broke ones) have quite a small wind shield....not so good in winter or heavy rain/cold weather.

The touratech ones are all plastic i believe, no ally back bone. I like the fact that you can get extra wind shields for them.

Barkbusters seem to be a combo of the above two. They have an ally backbone and a decent size plastic windshield.

Will i have to buy new bar end weights depending on what hand guards i get, or do they all fit? the ones i have at the mo are quite big and heavy which i think is good due to the Ten being a little vibey.

i plan on dropping this bike a lot, but having to keep spending £90 on handguards doesnt appeal. :unsure:

The bugger is I recently broke the nearside one as well, so bought another set and I now have an offside one going spare.

I've got barkbusters on my Vstrom and I'm more that haapy with them. I removed the alloy back bone and made new ones from steel flat bar that was 8mm x 20mm. It'll take a hell of a lot to snap them bad boys

Next time drop it on the offside then you can use the matching spare without having tobuy another full set.

yeah, think thats what im leaning towards. Has anyone on here got the barkbuster bar end weights or the storm shield plastic guards?

Gripper1974 - i thought about making new back bones out of steel. but then i thought when you crash you've got more chance of bending the bars? :dry:

Throttled - cheers for that, always wondered what make they were as they came with the bike. To be fair, for £25 there quite good.i know mine broke but im sure the previous owner had dropped it on that left side before.

I know what you meann about bending the bars mate but I'm sure you could get them straightend if the worst should happen And you really would have to be going some to bend your bars Best advice is don't drop it

just fitted barkbusters to my ten, more room for levers than other makes of guards.thay came with adjustable spoilers,fitted renthal fat bars too,
