Normandy Beaches - Easter 2011.
Re: Normandy Beaches - Easter 2011.
Thanks for all this guys - it's really helpful.
Think I'll plan to take the tent but there's a couple of formule 1 hotels not to far away just incase it rains (or I become a soft a*se) and I want a warm bed for the night.
Looked at ferries - LD seem ok and run Newhaven Dieppe on a limited service but it's cheap (about £40 return). The other option is to run Portsmout the Caen on the Fastcat going there and then possibly run an overnighter from Cherbourg back to Portsmouth and get a good night's sleep before heading home (about £135)
Should be a good trip and will get some pics etc for a write up if the other lads give the go-ahead to book it all.
If anyone has any more tips etc then please contribute.
Phil

Re: Normandy Beaches - Easter 2011.
I stayed here with a few mates earlier this year, for riding around all the beaches and memorial sites.

Adress is: La Haute Addeville St Côme du Mont.
and a Gite cost us 50 Euros each for 3 nights including breakfast.
Made space in one of the barns to store the bikes.
Run by and English guy (with French girlfriend) - Contact Dick at [email protected]

It was a fantstic, thought provoking trip.

Cheers Strada
Have sent an email to them.
50 euro's not bad (pretty good actually) for 3 nights.

Re: Normandy Beaches - Easter 2011.
No problem.
May have worked out at £50 but still cheap and a very nice big Gite.
The place is in an ideal spot but around 3 hours from Calais - nice ride though.

Re: Normandy Beaches - Easter 2011.
It's £83 on the Fastcat Portsmouth - Cherbourg which works out about the same as Dover - Calais and then fuel to the gite so probably easier on the bum to do that
and allows us to chill on the ferry and abuse some cage drivers
Whatever we choose to do I'll post up here with a breakdown of costs for people so others know what they are looking at for a similar trip.
