A breakfast run...Port Elizabeth, South Africa

Woke up to beautiful weather so my pillion and I decided on doing a ride to a farm coffee shop come restaurant, a round trip of about 250 km with a bout 40 km of dirt. We had an absolutely fantastic ride...so fortunate to have such beautiful 'off the beaten track' places so close to us.

2014 Yamaha Super Tenere 1200

I purchased the new Super Tenere in April this year and have done about 12,300km to date. I haven't seen much on the forum regarding the Super Tenere. I'd welcome any comments from fellow riders. My previous (recent) bikes have been a BMW F650GS, Kawasaki KLR650, BMW 650 X-Country and a BMW1200 GSA ...

Zumo 390 Touratech bracket for Yamaha Super Tenere

I have the 2014 Yamaha Super Tenere and recently purchased a Touratech lockable mounting for my Zumo 390. The new Super Tenere has a cross bar fitted to accommodate a navigation unit.

I soon discovered that there is a problem with this set up though. When the Zumo is located in the mounting ...

Which Super Tenere?

I'm in a bit of a quandary. I'm in the market for a new bike...had a BMW GSA but after the final drive packed up at 34 000kms I've lost confidence in the big GS's.
I took a look at the local Yamaha dealer and they have 2 x 1200's (this is South Africa...and Port Elizabeth!) One is the 2013 Super ...

Re: 1200GSA final drive problem

I've just been to the Yamaha dealer to take a look at the new Super Tenere ES plus the older model. Mmmmmm, I think I may be sold on this bike! I know they're heavy, but ironically it felt lighter than my GSA. And a close buddy of mine has been riding one for a couple of years now, and importantly ...
