I LOVED MY FIRST BIKE RALLY!!!! PART ONE!
Hello Everyone....it's been a while since I last posted!! Just wanted to share my photos of a wonderful weekend with you all!
The meeting point! We were fashionably late...and I was a little nervous meeting people off the site in person! What a lovely bunch of riders! Don't know why I was nervous at all!
There were 9 bikes at the start of our ride to Kirkby Stephens. We stopped for a break and then promptly got lost in awful traffic on the outskirts of Leeds/Bradford in rush hour! With two Gs's and a KTM satnav all giving us different directions, we finally managed to get to the campsite at about 7pm. My longest ride on a bike to date - we had started the day at 10am! What a welcome awaited us by Maria and Paul, with the fabulous chef Jessie laying on a feast for us all. Oh, and the Ladies Washrooms and showers were just perfect!! :cheer:
The next morning, after a bitter cold night, my spirits were raised by the smell of bacon and coffee in my tent! I had breakfast in bed! Then we all headed off out to join different riding routes. It was all so very relaxed.
I am such a lazy pillion and just sat back and relaxed watching the world go by, admiring the beautiful sights of the countryside. I had my camera ready and took some photos of our group doing a fantastic road! I must admit, I did let out a couple of happy screams on the ups and downs!!
I've never ridden in a group before - was an impressive sight and a great feeling! We stopped for some lunch and Eggs promptly jumped on a free GS and made himself at home!!

I LOVED MY FIRST BIKE RALLY!!!! PART TWO!!
The ride out was not without it's dramas!! James our Ride-out Leader found a ford for us to cross. He headed over first, with Alun following closely behind. James skidded but got over safely - just!...my heart hit my mouth as I felt the bike skid under us, but somehow Alun controlled his friend's GS and we were over fine....a few toppled in the very slippery ford. No real injuries, thank goodness. I was reluctant to take these photos, but was instructed by the group that it's the first rule of thumb...someone falls, pull out the camera, click away....then ask if they need a hand up!!
We stopped to catch our breath at a coffee shop...sadly on this beautiful sunny day, not one other person at the cafe (including the staff) smiled at our party! Oh well - maybe they were envious of the freedom that our bikes were allowing us today?
It was just too much excitement for some members of our group! :silly: But in all fairness, two members of our group were heading straight back to Scotland after this ride! hmy:
We finished the day off with some lovely fish and chips and a few pints/white wine sprizters at the very friendly local pub! It had been a fantastic day! Thank you James and everyone in our group.
The next day we reluctantly packed up, but not before the compulsory partner shot outside our tent! And of course the famous Alun Davies Catalogue Pose which seems to be catching on fast!! :silly:
Thank you everyone for a truly wonderful weekend. It was great to meet people off the forum finally. Maria and Paul were the perfect hosts. Thank you Maria for organising all the behind-the-scene little things that us girls really appreciated!
See you all at the next ABR Rally in Stratford!

Re: I LOVED MY FIRST BIKE RALLY!!!! PART TWO!!
A great post liked the on bike shots, as it's a view that we don't normally get to see.
The AD poses at the end made me giiggle.
Thank you.

The end of the road is the start of the fun

Cracking pictures midnight! I'm so glad you learnt to get the photos before helping the rider.  I hate falling off if nobody gets a photo, it seems pointless.
It was great to meet you and I'm really glad you enjoyed it.
Now you just need to get a DT125 and start offroading.

See, nothing to be nervous about
Adventure Riders are not like Sports Riders - We expect to fall down, fall off, get lost and end up with grass in the visor. It's why our bikes have crash bars
There is a pecking order when we do come off that is expected.
1. Laugh
2. Photograph (While laughing is optional)
3. Ask if they are alright
4. Laugh again
5. Consider help after taking some more pics of the struggle to lift the bike.
Glad you had good time
