Your chance to join an epic Pyrenees motorcycle adventure this May

It’s no exaggeration to say that the Pyrenees is one of the world’s great mountain ranges. Older and more varied than the Alps, the Pyrenees host imposing massifs and sheer peaks along with lush, forested valleys and waterfalls that are among the most impressive in Europe.

For motorcyclists, not only do the Pyrenees host exhilaratingly high paved mountain passes, but also a seemingly endless network of trails to explore, making it the perfect destination for adventure biking.

If you’ve ever wanted to ride in the Pyrenees (or want to revisit this fabulous part of the world), here’s your chance.

Moto Junkies, founded by around-the-world adventure biker, acclaimed author and ABR Festival speaker Steph Jeavons, is leading a two-week Pyrenees riding adventure this May, and there’s still a few spots left to join the crew.

From following the infamous Smugglers Routes to riding twisty mountain tarmac, this epic trip has it all.

Read on to discover more about the adventure and how you can join in.

The Big Pyrenees Adventure

The journey kicks off in Portsmouth, where you’ll meet your fellow riders before getting on the ferry across to Bilbao. Once you’ve arrived in Spain, you’ll head into the stunning badlands of the Bardenas Reales almost immediately to explore some gentle trails and get a feel for each other’s riding styles.

Over the next few days, you’ll then ride some of the superb twisting stretches of tarmac on the Spanish side of the Pyrenees, roads that we rate among the best in Europe.

You’ll then get a chance to dip your feet in the warm waters of the Mediterranean and enjoy a beer on the beach before the journey continues back east.

This time, you’ll explore more off-road trails, including the iconic Smugglers Routes leading into the micro-state of Andorra.

These routes follow rocky trails through pristine forests and carves along the sides of mountains. But if you’re not a super experienced off-road rider, don’t worry. As long as you’ve got a bit of basic experience under your belt, you’ll be fine, and the Moto Junkies team are experts at training and guiding riders off-road, and will always be on hand to assist you.

After leaving Andorra, you’ll again ride a mixture of stunning tarmac roads and scenic trails on your way back to the northern coast, where you’ll have one more chance to soak in the Spanish sun before hopping back on the ferry to the UK.

What you need to know

This trip is designed for big adventure bikes, with about 65% of the riding on incredibly fun and twist tarmac roads. The rest is on trails that are suitable for bigger bikes, with nothing too gnarly or intimidating. Just sublime riding and epic views, each and every day.

You’ll need to bring your own bike and kit, but comfortable B&B style accommodation is included each night, your return ferry crossing, and the support of two expert guide riders.

You don’t need to be a pro at riding off-road, although you’ll need to be generally fit for relatively long days in the saddle (average 150 miles of mixed roads each day).
