Touratech has launched a new engine guard for the BMW GS and the KTM 1190 Adventure.

The Expedition Engine Guard, developed by Touratech, the company that kitted out Ewan and Charley for their Long Way Round and Long Way Down rides, has been designed specifically for riders who want to take their adventure bikes off the beaten track.

Priced at £260.94, the new engine guard provides protection through two means, a 4mm thick aluminium base plate which features multiple folded ridges to help provide more strength and an additional lower stainless steel attachment plate on the engine which helps distributed the force of an impact over a large area.

Replaceable plastic rails on the bottom of the base plate cover any bolt heads and allow the bike to ‘slide’ over any obstacles on the trail, they also help prevent unwanted dirt built ups.

Variations of the engine guard have been made to fit the BMW F700GS, F800GS/Adventure, R1200GS (2013 models onwards) and the KTM 1190 Adventure.
