The event is open to riders of all abilities and, while it’s aimed at BMW owners, any adventure bike owner can come a long. As with previous years, female riders can enter completely free of charge.

The GS Challenge takes place this weekend from 9 to 11 September in the stunning Welsh countryside around Ystalyfera, Powys.

For those of you who just want a fun weekend, there’s plenty of on and off-road fun to get involved in, all in a friendly atmosphere. But if you are in the mood for a little competition, they’ll be keeping score throughout the weekend too, with the winner getting a bye into next year’s GS Trophy UK Qualifier final.

The event is knock-out style competition with both on and off-road sections. An R 1250 GS is supplied for the off-road sections so you don’t have to worry about damaging your pride and joy.

You’ll find yourself tackling slow speed off-road manoeuvres that will test your balance and clutch control to the max, low speed riding over difficult terrain, and handling skills that will require all your skill.

On top of the riding there’s an variety of practical, teamwork, and navigation tests to sink your teeth into over the course of the weekend.

When you’re all done riding  across the Welsh mountains on Saturday, kick back with a cold beer and enjoy an evening of entertainment at camp. There are even options to add on a motorhome pass and tickets for non-riders who want to come along.

Sunday’s ride takes in yet more stunning Welsh roads before arriving back at camp where there will be various workshops, ride outs and activities to complete before the finalists are announced.
