KTM adds to their rally ready line-up with the KTM 890 Adventure R Rally

When it comes to rally racing, no other manufacturer has as much success and reason to celebrate it as KTM. So, it’s no surprise that the Austrian manufacturer has decided to enhanced its line-up with one of the most rally-ready adventure bikes you can buy: the new 890 Adventure R Rally.

KTM has released ‘Rally’ versions of its 890 Adventure platform before, but with the 2024 model, KTM has spared no expense to make one of the most off-road capable adventure bikes ever made.

Using the current 890 Adventure R, which is already one of our favourite adventure bikes to ride off-road, the Rally features a number of notable upgrades.

Top-spec suspension and plenty of armour

Suspension duties are handled by top-of-the-line WP Xplor Pro units that have been developed from professional racing, and use WP Cone Valve technology for unrivalled damping behaviour, and therefore better control on rough terrain and under heavy braking.

Aside from the top-spec suspension units, there’s an Akrapovič Slip-On Line exhaust system, similar to that used by KTM factory racing teams, heavy-duty Excel rims with steel spokes, a race-specific rally seat, wide and grippy rally footpegs, and a full suit of armour including carbon tank guards, an engine protection grill, a new fork guard, and an aluminium guard for the rear master cylinder.

Rounding off the new parts is a Supersprox-Stealth rear sprocket designed to last through the toughest of environments.

In terms of electronics, you also get KTM’s Turn-By-Turn+ navigation system, ABS linked ride modes including Rally mode, Motor Slip Regulation, cruise control, KTM’s Quickshifter+, cornering ABS, and a connectivity unit compatible with KTMconnect for linking your smartphone to the 5-inch TFT display.

KTM is only building 700 of the 2024 890 Adventure R Rally units worldwide, and the bike will cost £20,899 with reservations opening on 20 September 2023.  You can find more info about the rally-ready adventure bike here.

KTM 450 Rally Replica 2024

Alongside the 890 Adventure R Rally, KTM is also releasing a new version of its 450 Rally Replica for 2024, which is derived from KTM’s Dakar-winning bikes and is favoured by amateur and professional rally racers around the world.

Only 80 units will be produced, and its about as close as customers can get to a factory racing bike from any manufacturer. In fact, 70% of people who enter Malle Moto classes in the Dakar race a KTM 450 Rally Replica, which says all you need to know about the level of spec.

Highlights of the spec sheet include:

  • 450cc SOHC fuel-injected engine
  • Race-spec chassis developed and as used by the factory rally teams
  • 48mm WP XACT PRO closed cartridge forks [Cone Valve]
  • WP XACT PRO fully-adjustable shock
