Triumph tiger 800

Post by big al »

Was in Cardiff the other day, so thought I would pop into Bevans the Triumph dealer just to have a good look at the new 800, And now I've seen it I cant make up my mind if I like it or not.
I've heard of some awful stories of bike cutting out when coming up to junctions and stalling with rider and passengers falling off.

Any thoughts out there

Had mine 12 months now. The stalling issue has now been resolved. A recall was done last year to update the fuel mapping. I had the problem with mine as it's an early bike. Now it's running sweet as a nut.

To be honest it's the one of the best bikes I've owed. It's good on road and off. I've not spoke to any other owner who say different. Check out www.tiger800.co.uk

Was talking to a chap from London a few weeks ago and he was telling me about the stalling problem, It cut out on a junction as he was turning right the bike went over he jumped off and it fell on his mrs right leg and broke it in two places. She now has two lots of pins in her leg. and when he took the bike back to his local dealer they said there is nothing wrong with it. A court battle in now in hand.

I was thinking of booking a test ride for this week, but I'm not too sure now.
With all the testing that triumph do, surely they would have found out there was a problem with them, and sort it out before the launch, or is that too simple a task.
but hey, perhaps that's just my way of thinking Practical

Well, you can't really take one or two stories of an issue and assume that everyone faces the same issues - they don't. Mine has never cut out, not had any problems at all. My dealer is friendly, helpful, generous, nothing is too much trouble.

Remember it only tends to be negative stories you read about on the internet. Everyone else is too busy having fun on them.

Had mine for 6months now and no issues with cutting out what so ever. Come to think of it the only reason it's been back to the dealer was for the 500 mile service.

I don't work for triumph but I love it. I do change my bikes a lot but not this one, it's a keeper. :) :)

Had my tiger for almost 12 months and have to say that I too have had no issues.
There was a recall done on all tigers ref the stalling issues, although again I was not effected.

Cracking bike, simply love it :)
I would buy another one without any hesitation.

I've had a 885i,955i & 1050 Tigers & now have the 800 road IMHO its the best of them all just enough power & handles really well I've never had any problems with it stalling & I didn't take it back for the mapping recall I've never had any problems with after sales service either.
***just like Britney Spears oops I did it again……sold the Scrambler & as of now there may not be a replacement***
