hi ive just read that from the 1st jan 2013 its mandatory to wear reflective clothing if riding a motorcycle over 125cc in france, on spot fines of 70euros. merd eh,al

It's all over the web and is law from then BUT it's only a square of hi viz you need, not a full hi vis jacket. Get googling.

Does it matter that much to you to wear a dayglotag 6 inch square
I was riding without a helmet cos I am old enough to be stupid enough to say at the time it was a daft idea to wear a lid :silly:
You wear them, dayglo's, on building sites almost every company insists that people in traffic area of their companies if you want a job or to use the facilities you put one on
If they banned waterproofs or helmets maybe same folk would moan at that
I once read a footnote to a email that said
"Wouldnt be seen dead in a dayglo jacket" hope the person still is around = statistics say his chances are better

Its poor viz or dark or I am on me own on the motorway
If they say its law then if yer want to go there wear one easy
If yer dont - go in the car - but take one or two with yer as to be on the side of the motorway without a dayglo is an offence toooo

Yes it's a 125cm sq surface area. So if it was a square, only say 12cm x 11 cm

There is no independent study which proves that hi viz is useful on a motorcycle. It's been proved to be worthwhile for slow moving or static things (ie blokes on building sites) but not fast moving objects.

Just because logic says "hi viz makes us more visible so it must be good" doesn't make it so, and these things are penalising the victims of accidents (ie us) when the money should be being spent on educating drivers. It is not our responsibility to make ourselves more visible than we already are, and especially not to legislate for it which costs us money.
