... apologies. I've been trying to set up what's known as a 'cron job' on the website server for a while, and only just managed it. A 'cron job' is an automated task that goes on in the background and this particular one is designed to let you know when someone has interacted/contacted you on the site.
So, what's just happened is a backlog of mails were sent out – in the future you will only have a mail if someone sends you a private message etc.
