Came across this recently and thought what a damned good idea and excuse for going a-wandering!

Anyone done any of these events in Ireland, and is there a UK equivalent running? Seems a nice concept to do on a Regional basis over here, maybe using some mild off-road points.

Funnily enough, I was thinking about setting my own small version a couple of days ago.
The problem with the RBR is the difficulty of living in the south east corner - that would require heading off for a few days once you got past East and West Sussex, Kent, Hampshire, and Surrey…maybe Dorset. Otherwise it’s an awful lot of dragging grotty roads to get there and back.
Living across the central strip would be perfect but I’m not moving house just to do it!

That Round Britain Rally looks right up my street. A quick scan of the link and it looks like it’s £43 to enter.

I started something similar in 2009, called it the ‘Landmarks Tour’, I think I got the idea from BSH or similar, but that was last century.
I won the trophy in 2010 when someone else set the locations, visiting 97.5%.

That was what I was thinking when I pondered it further. Even just England alone, would be a mission. Hence my saying Regional...

Would be relatively easy for a local to produce a few "special" locations for a County, which could then be used for a regional/national event. A bit like a TET linesman.

But having finally got and looked at the RBR, it would be re-inventing the wheel. However, the Irish one allows you to see the locations and start visiting BEFORE joining in.... RBR requires you to sign up in advance?

There would be a lot of over-nighters for you especially!!

Even based in Shropshire, it doesn't need much effort to need the same, and with both B&B and camping so pricey here in the UK, it will soon add up!!

I am off to Ireland in the late Spring (I hope) and intend going around N.Ireland, then drop back to Galway cross-country. If I then hiked down to Rosslare, I could see a fair number of the spots being feasible.... if time allowed!
