This may seem obvious.
We've just been through summer but now the shorter days are coming.
Like most i ride with dipped beam all the time.
When i was getting my Triumph ready for our Scottish tour in June i checked the lights and had no dipped, both bulbs gone. But how and when?
Spent a bit of time fixing the dipped on me Strom this weekend. Dry joint?
Now i maintain my own bikes but some things i just expect are working. Start the bike, flip on the lights and away. Problem with daylight riding is you can't see if they're on.
Check your lights

Re:Check your lights
It's probably due to 30 years at the mercy of Joe Lucas, prince of darkness, but I habitually put my hand in front of my headlight to make sure that it is on whenever setting off.
A wise man is one who doesn't make the same mistake once.

Re: Check your lights
Dragged the Strom out yesterday to collect my ABR mag from Alun, usual pre-ride checks, no flamin headlights, again
So instead of a nice ride on a great dry autumn day i need to take the flamin thing to bits to sort it out.
Petrol, match, insurance claim. Best not i suppose.

Re: Check your lights
Now I've had to use my lights I noticed both speedo bulbs had blown. Guess I don't get out much at night now
I was surprised how much I had to dismantle on the R850R to get to them. It must be only second to the clutch to get to. It was actually easier to change a head gasket than the speedo bulbs.
It reminded me of my old ZZR where you had to remove the grab rail to change the spark plugs!

If you have eaten your breakfast, clean your bowl.

Re: Check your lights
Right i've fixed it again. Under the fuel tank, behind the radiator is a connecter block, pulled it apart, cleaned and doused in ACF50, now have lights again. :cheer:
So pleased i gave it a good wash aswell.
Now i can take it for the MOT tomorrow then tax it.

Don't you just check your reflection on anything you ride behind or park against?Treadtrader wrote: Problem is with daylight riding is you can't see if they're on.

One fortunate thing with the GS is the lamp warnings.I still check my spot lamps almost every morning tho'.When I park up at work I do so facing the office window I just flick the switch and check the reflection!PapaLazarou wrote:Don't you just check your reflection on anything you ride behind or park against?Treadtrader wrote: Problem is with daylight riding is you can't see if they're on.
By the by I also check the front brake before I mount just opush the bike slightly forward before getting on and pull the brake, also good forchecking no disc lock lect on as well.

Re: Check your lights
Of course i do. But not allways possible in country lanes. I fire it up than have a walk round check, then get on, then get off and pick up me glove, then back on and away. :woohoo:PapaLazarou wrote:Don't you just check your reflection on anything you ride behind or park against?Treadtrader wrote: Problem is with daylight riding is you can't see if they're on.
