Thanks very much for a excellent ride report and pictures of food and roads to die for...cantabria and Galicia is a special place not often visited ...top Trump award.

That’ll be Hosteria Picos de Europa I guess. We had exactly the same experience some 5 or 6 years back. Glad to see nothing’s changed.Flintlock wrote: ↑Sun Oct 16, 2022 1:57 pm Lol - nothing wrong with being in no rush. Thanks for the comments lads. Anyway-
Saturday 1st October.
So , over breakfast whilst being watched very closely by a Spanish version of Basil Fawlty ( we got told off for being 3 minutes early for breakfast lol), we decided we would explore North West of Potes. The weather forecast gave it warm & sunny for the rest of the week.
We headed north along the N 621 - nice and twisty as it makes it way through gorge. Not too much traffic this time of year - but I would imagine it would be very busy in the summer months.
At Panes we take the AS 114 west towards Las Arenas and stop for a coffee at Ruta as 114

The picture of that Casserole made me hungry
The‘menu of the day’ for lunch is always a good choice in Spain in my opinion and I’ve eaten some meals that have been absolutely delicious without knowing what they really were until afterwards, such as wild boar and various fish etc.

Spike - bang on the money - no chance of sneaking out a banana at breakfast under his watchful eye lol
Scott - yes always game to try the local food. We had cheek of wild boar on the 1st night - really good
Sunday 2nd October
No breakfast at the hotel, so strolled into the town for the Spanish version of bacon & eggs Meanwhile the mechanic informs us that the Suzuki will be ready for 11am & the price (including parts)? - 30 Euro - the guy had the chance to stick his arm right in but obviously didn't- he was given the 30 euro and a generous bonus on top. So a big shout out to Motos Juan S.A.

Shortly after 11am and we were off along the N634 to La Cruz, then south on the AS 119, continued onto the AS 117, then continued south on the AS 252

Further along & a stop by a lake for a brew up & a spot of fishing
No joy with fishing but a beautiful spot and we were rewarded with a very loud chorus from God knows how many frogs in the lake margins

The AS 253 continues onto the LE 331. Another stop at a reservoir and there is a local biker on a nice GS 750. Again, we could not speak each others languages but we were still able to communicate with each other. He produced a knife and proceeded to cut up a chuck of local salami and share it out among us

We continue along the LE 331 to Bonar where we turn left onto the CL 626, follow to the end then left onto the N621 which took us up to the familiar terrority of Riano and Potes.
We had booked our next two night back at the lake stop. We treated ourselves to the Parador de Fuente De - a great hotel in a great location - at the end of the CA 185 out of Potes Quite a few other bikers availing of the hotel too We were able to leave the panniers of the bikes in the secure luggage room at reception. Hopefully this would make the wee bit of off road riding easier we had planned for tomorrow.
