Rear brake light failure on the XT1200Z

Noticed that the rear brake light was not working from the front brake lever on the Super Ten.
The foot brake still operated the stop light, the LED Rear light Assy must have separate LEDs for the stop lights.
Fault traced to the micro switch on the the front brake lever, it had gone high resistance.
Changed the micro switch and the fault has now cleared.
Starting to wonder if the fault was due to the hot weather as the bike has only done 25K miles.

Glad you got it sorted, there was a recall for the front switch which was causing cruise control issues but I think it was the opposite fault of what you were seeing.

Great to see you’re still riding/enjoying the Super Ten…!

Good to hear from you, yes the Super Ten is going well, though it seems ages since I was over on the continent.
Was up north for a week not long ago, I picked the week when the rain was horizontal, still must have been 30 bikes parked at the
old railway hotel at Ulapool, the third floor has been refurbished and the staff are friendly.
Still to get the CBF1000 MOT'd, maybe next week.
Ride safe.

On older bikes I used to replace the mechanical solution that feels the movement with a hydraulic sensor.
That reacts on the pressure of the brake fluid.
I found a generic one. That had the sensor built into the bolt that holds the hydraulic hose.
M10x1 or M10x1,25 dependent on MC brand.
Easy to mount. Reliable

Micro switches are usually very reliable, have used them on military equipment in the past, thats why I am wondering why we are getting failures.

Quality issues, different standards of manufacture. I bet the micro switches used on aircraft are at the very top of the tree!
