He is also an excellent speaker and if you ever get the chance go to one of his talks.

Like Mr Fox, I was there on Monday at his book signing. For an 80+ year old he is doing incredibly well and was most lucid. What did surprise me was that he saw the bike only as a tool to meet humanity. He is not a die hard biker, but he certainly can tell a story or two.
I got the impression that he wants people to get back to basics with overland travel and concentrate less on kit and more on meeting people. Speaking to him afterwords we joked that the best thing his foundation could do to increase interactions with people when traveling was to encourage overlanders to buy unreliable machines. I've met some cracking garage staff in my time.
His slide show presentation was brilliant, I think if he did it for his whole trip and made a DVD out of it then all the geeks like me would be queuing up to buy it.
Austin Vince next month...

off to Coventry in a couple of hours time to the Foundation Launch - it seems some serious gathering with all the people we've read being there for the evening. Looking forward to it!
